Effie: I don’t think the girls will fit in some of these much longer…
Sadie: Oh darling you sound sad! Don’t you want them to grow up?
Effie: I do and I don’t! I love them being so tiny, but it’s lovely when they start reacting more to you too – communicating with you…
Rowan: I don’t know about the girls but I think Haggis is trying to communicate with me! What’s up, mate?
Effie: Oh, I expect he wants a walk! Will tried to take him before he went to work, but Haggis wouldn’t go because it was raining.
Rowan: Good grief Haggis, you won’t melt in the rain you know! Come on, I’ll take you out.
Effie: Are you sure, Rowan?
Rowan: Yeah, I need some exercise – I’ll take his ball and we’ll play in the park.
Effie: Thank you, Rowan, that’s very kind of you.
Sadie: Must make a note in my diary – Rowan got out the right side of bed today!
Effie: Oh Sadie! Be fair! She does do a lot to help me out – the same as you do. Anyway, it’s good timing – Jake is usually walking Sooty in the park round about this time.
Sadie: Oh – the good mood won’t last – or will it? Is that why she offered?
Effie: I don’t think so! But if he sees her, he’s bound to stop her for a chat. Maybe she’ll be nice to him.
Sadie: I doubt it. Poor Jake! I’m sure they would get on well if she’d stop pretending she doesn’t like him.
Effie: So YOU think she likes him then? I don’t think she’d even admit it to herself.
Sadie: Can’t see why she doesn’t just go for it! I mean look at me and Daniel – we fancied each other so we got together, no messing about!
Effie: And I’m glad you did! But you know Rowan – she’s always wary about committing herself.
Sadie: Well she doesn’t have to marry him and have six kids straight away! Daniel and I love each other very much, but we have a lot of fun without tying each other down.
Effie: That’s not what you were telling me last week!
Sadie: Oh, darling, that was hand-cuffs – that’s completely different…
