Jake: Will – can I ask you something?
Will: Yeah, sure.
Jake: When Effie was pregnant, did she cry all the time?
Will: We did have a few tears in the first few months. Why, is Rowan crying a lot?
Jake: Yeah…just over silly things really. Like yesterday, it was a news story about a lost puppy –
Will: Oh, we had tears over a lost puppy too – that’s how come we ended up with Haggis! It’ll pass, don’t worry.
Jake: I know. But it just breaks my heart seeing her so upset.
Tom: It must be hard, seeing Rowan like that – she’s usually so tough.
Dan: I know I’ll have all this to come with Sadie before long, but she’s always very emotional about everything, so I think I’ll be better prepared for it!
Tom: Yeah, we probably won’t notice any difference!
Will: You just have to be patient with her – I know that’s hard with Rowan at the best of times, but just hang on in there. Things will get better.
Jamie: And don’t take it personally when she bites your head off! The thing is, she doesn’t look any different on the outside yet, so it’s hard to remember there’s a lot going on inside. Just be there with lots of hugs.
Jake: I just feel a bit useless…
Jamie: Well you’re not, so don’t beat yourself up. But talking of being useless –
Jamie: – how come you’re all lurking in here? Funny kind of football practice!
Dan: Ah come on Jamie –
Dan: It’s a Bank holiday, so it’s cold and wet and windy out there!
Tom: Yeah, if we go out and play, Dan’s hair will go all fluffy!
Jamie: It’s just a few drops of rain – you lot are pathetic! Oh well, I’m going to stick the kettle on –
Jamie: – who wants a cup of tea?
