Christmas Eve, after closing at the Frog and Fiddle. Rowan is showing off the pyjamas Jake bought her.
Rowan: Well, what do you think?
Jake: I think you look beautiful…
Rowan: What’s up, sunshine? You look all worried!
Jake: Rowan – I’m not really sure what you’re expecting from me tonight. What you said in the pub the other night –
Rowan: I’ll say it straight, then. I don’t want to sleep in the spare room tonight. I want to sleep in here. With you.
Jake: It’s just you said you wanted to take things slow. I meant it when I invited you to stay in the spare room, I wasn’t trying to –
Rowan: I know you weren’t, Jake. Would you prefer if I stayed in the spare room?
Jake: No! I’d prefer it if you were in here with me.
Rowan: Well then! That’s sorted. I’m starting to think taking things slowly is over-rated.
Jake: And the other thing is –ah – it’s been quite a while for me…
Rowan: Me too! But don’t worry, it’s one of those things you don’t forget how to do, isn’t it – like falling off a bike?
Jake: I don’t think you meant falling off a bike!
Rowan: No but I made you laugh, didn’t I?
Rowan: Look – it will be okay – and if we find we really can’t remember what we’re doing, I can always text Sadie for advice…?
Jake: I think we’ll work it out between us…
