It’s nice to have a big brother with a car, when you live in a village a long way from the cinemas. With Niamh and Cherry away flying, Tom has offered to treat Lizzie to a Sunday morning trip into town to see a film and then go for lunch.
Lizzie: Tom, you’re half an hour early!
Tom: Well, I know you only take five minutes to get ready, and I was just thinking…
Lizzie: Do you need to sit down?
Tom: I was wondering if we could stop by Robin’s place and see if he’d like to come with us.
Lizzie: Oh! Well…
Tom: It’s your call! It’s your day out, so if you don’t want to…
Lizzie: It’s not that, Tom. I just wonder if going round his house might be a step too far. I mean, it’s different when you deliver his post, but he might think this is a bit pushy.
Tom: Maybe…I just thought, he hasn’t got a car, has he? And it’s such a trek into town on the bus, he might like to get out and about for a bit. He doesn’t seem to go anywhere.
Lizzie: I don’t think he would get the bus anyway – he’d get a cab if he wanted to go anywhere! It wouldn’t be the same luxury for him as it is for me, would it?
Tom: Oh yeah I suppose that’s true…well, I just thought he might like a break, and seeing as it’s just the two of us going…
Lizzie: Yes…well, maybe we should give it a try.
Tom: He can soon say no, can’t he?
Lizzie: Okay then – I’ll get my coat!
