Tom: You’re a bit quiet today…
Niamh: Sorry, Tom. I’ve just been thinking…
Niamh: …do you think Dan and Sadie will still want us living with them when the baby’s here?
Tom: Well – they haven’t said anything…have they?
Niamh: No, but maybe they don’t like to say…babies take up a lot of space, don’t they? I wouldn’t like to think we were in the way, and they didn’t feel they could say anything.
Tom: Maybe we should raise the subject, then! Maybe it’s time we got our own place anyway…I must admit I do like living with them, though. It’s nice to have the company when you’re away working.
Niamh: Oh, I would miss living with Dan and Sadie too! And I would love to be able to help out with the baby – I loved helping Effie and Will with the twins.
Niamh: It’s not that I wouldn’t LIKE to have our own place – it would just be nice to save up a bit more first. We’ll need to buy so much stuff…we’ve got no furniture of our own!
Tom: Well, we could rent a furnished flat, but there would still be a lot to buy.
Niamh: Oh – there are so many GOOD things about living with Sadie and Dan…not just the low rent, but the company…it’s just all so cosy, isn’t it? I don’t want things to change.
Tom: Hey, they haven’t chucked us out yet!
Tom: Look – we’ll ask them if they’re still OK about us living there, so they’ve got the opportunity to say if they want the place to themselves. But we’ll just be careful not to sound too much like we WANT to leave!
Niamh: Yes – we’ll talk to them tonight. I hope they would like us to stay, Tom.
Tom: Well, I hope so too.
