Sadie: Oh poor darling, can’t you get comfortable?
Rowan: No…I should have brought my bean bag…
Sadie: Do you want my cushions?
Effie: I know, Ro, I’ll go and get my triangular pillow! That might be more comfortable.
Rowan: Oh thanks Eff! Sorry to be a nuisance…
Effie: Don’t be silly, it’s no trouble.
Sadie: You look tired today, darling…
Rowan: I am a bit. I think I might just give that five mile run a miss this afternoon…
Sadie: Good idea. I can tell when you’re not feeling brilliant because you wear Jake’s tops! They’re like your comfort blanket.
Rowan: Well, don’t tell me you never nick any of Dan’s clothes?
Sadie: Darling, he’s got nothing worth pinching!
Effie: There we go, is that better?
Rowan: Thanks Eff – don’t get me too comfortable, I’ll fall asleep.
Effie: Ro, you should have said if you were too tired to come round. We could have made it another day.
Rowan: Well, I just wanted to see you…oh, Eff, how on earth did you manage this with twins? I’m so glad there’s only another three weeks to go…
Sadie: Just three weeks – I can’t wait to find out if that’s Jack or Isobel in there!
Effie: Are those names still definite, Ro?
Rowan: Oh yes – it means such a lot to Jake. He can’t wait to find out now if it’s a boy or girl.
Effie: It’s so lovely when you find out what you’ve got, Rowan! I wouldn’t have liked to know beforehand.
Rowan: I was surprised YOU didn’t want to find out, Sades – so you could plan your shopping!
Sadie: I WAS tempted – but Dan didn’t want to know, and when I thought about it, I realised I didn’t want to either.
Rowan: It’s great how it’s all worked out, isn’t it – with us having babies so close. They’ll grow up together, and play together, and they’ll have the twins to look up to and play with…we can all do things together with our kids, can’t we? Days out and parties and picnics in the park, and – oh, just loads of things!
Effie: You’re really looking forward to it aren’t you Ro? You sound so happy!
Rowan: I can’t wait, Eff. I can hardly believe this is ME, talking about bringing up kids – but I really can’t wait.
Sadie: Not long to go, darling – by the time your birthday comes round, you will be a mum. I’ve got to wait till after Christmas!
Effie: It will soon come round for you too, Sadie.
Rowan: I still can’t believe it – any time now I’m going to be a mum…
