Lizzie: I’ll just put all his post here on the dresser.
Cherry: This is such a tiny little place! Why did he buy it – hasn’t he got much money?
Lizzie: He just wanted something small, he didn’t want to be rattling round in some huge empty place.
Cherry: And it’s so old-fashioned!
Lizzie: It’s pretty much how Miss Harper left it – she included most of her furniture in the sale.
Cherry: Well, she married her millionaire boss, didn’t she – I don’t suppose she had any use for this old stuff! Why doesn’t he redecorate and get some new stuff?
Niamh: He does talk about it sometimes, but he says it reminds him of his gran’s house – she practically brought him up, maybe it reminds him of happy times.
Lizzie: Anyway, I think it kind of suits him. Come on – let’s go and sort out that fridge.
Cherry: Oh this is cute – I bet you made this for him!
Lizzie: Yes. Well, that’s the fridge emptied – but it seems wrong to throw all the salad stuff out –
Lizzie: – so I put it in this bag, I thought we could drive by Effie’s and see if she wants it for her guinea pigs?
Cherry: That’s all salad stuff? Weird!
Lizzie: What’s weird about salad?
Cherry: The only green stuff most single guys have in their fridge is mould! Where’s all the beer and pizza?
Lizzie: Well, that’s obviously just the sort of boys YOU go out with. Come on, let’s get going.
Cherry: Oh hang on, Lizzie, I haven’t had a look at his bedroom yet.
Lizzie: Cherry, NO! You said you wouldn’t go poking around!
Cherry: Just a quick peep – I won’t touch anything!
Lizzie: Cherry –
Cherry: Now this DOES need redecorating! Oh, look, he’s reading Harry Potter –
Cherry: – he hasn’t got very far. What’s this bit of plastic he’s got tucked in here?
Lizzie: Cherry, don’t lose his place!
Cherry: He’d soon find it again.
Lizzie: No he wouldn’t, he – oh – never mind…
Cherry: Don’t get stressed Lizzie – there, look, everything’s back in the right place. Oh now, this IS odd…
Lizzie: What?
Cherry: Well, a young lad, with his own place, and he’s got a single bed – ?
Cherry: Hey Lizzie – have you tried it out yet?
Lizzie: Just STOP it Cherry! Stop making fun of me and Robin, and all his stuff – you’re being horrible.
Cherry: Oh honey I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you – I was just teasing, I didn’t mean to go too far…
Lizzie: I love him so much, Cherry, and I miss him – and what if he decides to stay with his family and never come back?
Cherry: Oh Lizzie! That won’t happen, he’ll come back to you, don’t worry.
Lizzie: But he struggles with so much here – maybe he’ll find it’s so much easier, being back home…
Cherry: Don’t think like that, Lizzie! He adores you, and he’s really settling into the village now, isn’t he? He’ll be back before you know it!
Cherry: Now come on, let’s get ourselves into town and – oh, no, I just trod on something…
Lizzie: You didn’t damage it, did you? What is it?
Cherry: No, it’s okay, it’s just a book – oh it looks like a sketch book! Does Robin draw, then?
Lizzie: Oh – I don’t know – he’s never mentioned it…
Cherry: Well then – shall we find out?
