Rowan: Will – can we slow down a bit?
Will: Yes of course we can! You okay?
Rowan: Just a bit out of breath and getting kicked in the ribs. Look – do you want to keep doing this? I’m just slowing you down.
Will: It doesn’t matter; I’ll go for a quick run after I’ve dropped you off at home. I just enjoy our chats anyway, but if you don’t want to do it anymore–
Rowan: Well, I enjoy our chats too – I’d like to keep up with our walks, as long as you don’t mind the slow pace.
Will: Come on, let’s go and sit down for a bit.
Rowan: Oh, I’ve slowed down from a run to a walk to a crawl – what I am going to be like in a few more weeks?
Rowan: I’ll be totally immobile; I won’t be able to get out the house –
Will: That’s what I like about spending time with you – your positive outlook on life!
Rowan: I bet Sadie’s going to just breezes through the next five months – and Effs coped much better than me when she had the twins – I’m a total wreck!
Will: Rowan, everyone’s different!
Will: It’s not a personal reflection on you if you’re not finding it easy – it’s just the way things are! I know it doesn’t seem fair…
Will: Look – let’s talk about something positive – do you and Jake want the Lockwood family heirloom?
Rowan: The what?
Will: Our old cot!
Rowan: Oh – can we?
Will: Course you can! The twins are too big for it now; it would be nice to think your kids can sleep in it too. Of course, it’s up to you – don’t feel obliged if you want to buy a new one, I know Jake’s ready to buy up the whole of Mothercare.
Rowan: No, I think he’d love to have it, and I would too. Um – would it be ok if we painted it? It’s just we thought we’d have a white cot. With blue gingham bedding, we’ve seen what we want!
Will: You can do what you like with it, it’s yours. It could do with sprucing up now anyway.
Rowan: It’ll keep Jake busy, sanding it down and painting it. He’ll like doing that, he likes doing things so he feels involved.
Will: Well, I’ll bring it round later.
Rowan: Thanks Will! Thank you so much.
Will: Oh – there’s something else we thought you could have too, when the girls have outgrown it.
Rowan: What’s that?
Will: That bloody xylophone that Teddy sent them.
Rowan: No way – no way! You can pass that on to Sadie.
