Sadie: – so I thought that fabric would be good for your dresses – it’s got the pink and burgundy in to tie in my dress and the boys’ waistcoats –
Effie: It’s so pretty, Sadie – I love it! And I love your sketches for the twins’ outfits. What style will Rowan and I have?
Sadie: I thought something like this, darling – it should suit you both, and it will be flattering for Rowan with the high waist.
Effie: Oh that’s perfect! I can’t wait to see them made up.
Sadie: Do you like it, Rowan? I think it will look lovely on you, the skirt will just skim over Jake Junior and you should feel comfortable in it. But I can do something else, if you don’t like it?
Rowan: No, I like it – and the fabric, that’s nice too, even though it’s pink.
Effie: I think it suits you, Rowan. You do actually look good in pink.
Rowan: Yes – that’s what Jake says…
Sadie: Are you alright today, darling? You seem a little far away….
Rowan: Oh, I’m sorry, Sadie. Just thinking – I think Jake and I should set a date to get married….
Effie: Oh Rowan, yes! You still have time to get married before the baby comes.
Rowan: Well, I’m not really worried about that – to be honest, I didn’t think I’d be that bothered about getting married at all! Oh it’s probably just hormones or something…just seeing all your preparations has got me thinking about it, I suppose.
Sadie: He did ask you though, didn’t he? And you said you wanted to wait, but a girl can always change her mind. I’m sure he’d be thrilled.
Rowan: Yes he would, but I still want to wait. I just think it would be nice if we actually set a date and booked it, and then he’ll know that I really do mean it; I really will marry him.
Effie: But why wait?
Sadie: Well, she probably wants to wait till she can get into a fitted dress!
Rowan: No I don’t! I just don’t want to rush things because – well –
Rowan: Don’t let Jake know you know this because he’s kind of embarrassed about it – but when he got married to Sharon, it was a spur of the moment thing – it was a quickie wedding when they were on holiday in Las Vegas.
Effie: Really? Oh my goodness!
Sadie: How come you never told us that before?
Rowan: Well, he just doesn’t feel very proud of it. They got married on impulse and it didn’t work out and he regrets that. So I want it all to be totally different, when we get married.
Sadie: Well, he wouldn’t be marrying you on impulse, would he?
Rowan: No, but I just think it would be nice to spend time planning it all and having all that build up to it, wouldn’t it? I think he’d like all that. I don’t mean we want a big posh do, but it would be nice to not rush – to show we’d thought about what we wanted.
Sadie: Darling, men aren’t bothered about that kind of thing! I swear Dan thinks our wedding is being organized by the fairies.
Effie: I think you’re right about Dan, but I can see Jake getting really involved!
Rowan: Well, I’ll talk to him about it later. He’ll be really happy if we’ve got a date booked.
Effie: Yes, I think he will.
Sadie: Oh, thank you Daisy! How soon are you thinking, then?
Rowan: Maybe early next year – if I time it right, maybe it will be your turn to be the pregnant bridesmaid!
