Lizzie: I wish the sun would decide if it’s coming out or not…
Robin: It’s comin’ out. Lizzie – can I ask ye somethin’?
Lizzie: Of course you can!
Robin: I was thinkin’ – you’re me best friend, like – the thing is –
Robin: – ah I don’t know how te put it!
Lizzie: Robin, just take your time.
Robin: I spose this is gonna sound a bit daft, but the thing is – I’ve never really had a girlfriend.
Lizzie: Well, I’ve never had a boyfriend!
Robin: Really? I would’ve thought you could have your pick of the lads in the village.
Lizzie: I’ve been asked out a few times but not by anyone I actually wanted to go out with.
Lizzie: Anyway, what about you?
Robin: How d’ye mean?
Lizzie: Well, you must have met loads of beautiful models and actresses and – oh –
Robin: What?
Lizzie: Well – are you trying to tell me you’re gay? When you say you’ve never had a girlfriend –
Robin: Ah, Lizzie!
Robin: I thought you didn’t believe all that stuff in the papers!
Lizzie: I don’t! What are you trying to say, then?
Robin: Just – it sounds fair lame, someone my age never havin’ been out with a girl, an’ the thing is…it’s all been a bit mad the last few years, an’ I haven’t really had time to have a proper life, an’ –
Lizzie: I understand, Robin. I don’t think it’s lame at all!
Robin: Lizzie, I’d like – I’d like it if I could say you were me girlfriend. I don’t mean I want te get all serious, like, cos I still need te sort me head out, an’ –
Lizzie: Robin –
Robin: – an’ I know I’m a bit sort of useless, an’ you look after me a lot, an’ you should have a lad that’ll take care of you! Ah, I shouldn’t’ve asked ye…
Lizzie: Well, I can take care of myself, Robin! And I’m glad you asked, and I would like very much to be your girlfriend.
Robin: Would you really, Lizzie? Cos you don’t have te say yes just to be kind to us…
Lizzie: I’m saying it because I mean it, Robin.
