Will and Effie are getting married on 31st January at the local registry office. It is to be a quiet wedding, but Will wants Effie to wear something special. She has agreed – as long as he wears his kilt. To her surprise, he has agreed, so now she has to keep her side of the bargain! Sadie’s friend owns a bridal shop, and Sadie sometimes helps her out, so that’s where Effie has gone to get a dress.
This is the first fitting of the dress, which Sadie has done most of the work on. There is still a lot to do, but it already makes Effie feel very special, although it seems very strange looking at herself in a wedding dress!
She loves the fact that one of her best friends is helping to make her dress, it will make it even more special to her.
Effie hasn’t decided how she is wearing her hair yet, so Sadie ties it up just to see how it looks. Besides, there is so much of it, it’s getting in her way!
Sadie has made a belt decorated with beads and sequins to break up the plainness of the dress. Although Effie wants something simple, Sadie feels that this little detail will add a special touch to the dress.
Effie agrees that the belt looks very pretty; she loves the colour of the beads and sequins! But she asks Sadie not to make it too tight. Sadie tells her not to worry – she will leave plenty of room for expansion.
There is also a matching swing coat, as the wedding is in the middle of winter.
Effie is so pleased with her outfit so far, and very grateful to Sadie – she has worked so hard on it! Sadie is just happy that she can do something for her friend’s big day.
