Effie: Is she alright, Will? I didn’t even hear her!
Will: She’s fine – she wasn’t crying, just having a little chat to herself, she’s dropping off again already.
Will: See? She’s well away! I bet she was just having a think about Niamh’s party. The girls really enjoyed it, didn’t they? They loved the balloons!
Effie: Niamh was happy, wasn’t she?
Will: It made it special for her, having you and Dan with her.
Effie: It was special for me too…I wonder what we’ll be doing for Daisy and Jessica’s 18th birthday?
Will: You are funny, Effie – just yesterday you were wondering what their first birthday would be like, now you’ve got them turning 18!
Effie: Oh – I know it’s silly! But I do think about what they will be like as they grow up!
Will: I said you’re funny, Effie, not silly. I think about it too, I suppose all parents do. Anyway, we’d better get some sleep – I expect they’ll be awake bright and early.
Effie: Will – is it like you thought it was going to be, being a dad?
Will: I don’t know what I thought it would be like really – you can’t quite imagine it till it happens, can you?
Effie: No – but you enjoy it, don’t you?
Will: I love it! And I can see how much you love being a mum. Everyone can see it.
Effie: It’s the best thing in the world, Will, just the best thing…
