Daisy: That’s Auntie Rowan, and that’s Auntie Niamh, and that’s Tom –
Jessica: – and that’s Daddy, and that’s Mummy, and that’s Auntie Sadie, and that’s Uncle Dan –
Effie: I see the girls are giving you the rundown of the family tree!
Robin: I’m gettin’ a bit mixed up with who’s related to who…
Effie: Oh, me too. It’s getting very complicated.
Robin: That’s Daniel O’Hara!
Effie: Yes – he’s Niamh’s and my brother.
Robin: I really like his TV series. Niamh said about her brother, but she never said who he was! I met him once, at some awards thing.
Effie: Did you? Well, I expect you’ll meet him again before long, he lives in the village.
Effie: Now, sit yourself down – oh, let me move that book.
Robin: He was dead nice – I don’t spose he’d remember me, but I’d like to meet him again.
Effie: I’m sure he would remember! You’ll have to come along to one of our get-togethers. So, how about you, Robin – do you come from a big family?
Robin: No, there’s just me mam, an’ me little brother Freddie – well, there’s Martie an’ all, he’s married to me mam an’ he’s Freddie’s dad, so he’s sort of family – I suppose…
Effie: Daisy, hands away from the cookies! We offer them to guests first, don’t we? So, you don’t think of Martie as your step-father, then…?
Robin: Thank you – well – no, cos he was me manager, so…anyway, I was sixteen when he married me mam, so I didn’t really need him to be me dad, did I?
Effie: No – I don’t suppose you did.
Robin: He’s dead good with Freddie though – an’ I suppose he’s the closest thing I’ve got to havin’ a dad…
Robin: An’ I think he does care about me…I didn’t think he did, things all got jumbled up for a bit, with work an’ home…
Effie: I can see how they would.
Robin: I think everythin’ seemed so much worse than it was, though – cos I got so tired an’ mixed up about stuff – I didn’t see things very straight for a long time. I didn’t feel like anyone was on my side…probably it was a good thing to get away for a bit, an’, y’know, see it all from a distance…
Robin: Ah, I’m sorry, Effie, I was goin’ on an’ on – you asked me in for a cookie, not to listen to me ramblin’ about me life! I was just kind of thinkin’ out loud…
Effie: Oh that’s all right, Robin! Sometimes it helps to get your thoughts out in the open, doesn’t it?
Robin: Aye well, you can get things more in order, can’t you, when you talk about them? I think I need to talk to Lizzie about some stuff…
